Kunstlichebefruchtung | Jean-Lin Laggarrigue, Eero Schoch, Michèle  Janata

6.06-06.07.2024
KUDOS Gallery x KUDOS x Büro International (CH)

Jean-Lin Laggarrigue’s solo exhibition embarks on an in depth exploration of language, materiality, and the dynamic interplay between written and visual forms. The title, derived from the German linguistic construction that merges "Künstliche" (artificial) and "Befruchtung" (fertilization), reflects the artist's process of infusing new life and meaning into traditional mediums.
The exhibition presents a series of works that move from handwritten ink on paper to complex assemblages on wood and rusted surfaces. Each piece is transformed through layers of intervention, whether through physical tearing, manipulation, or the imprint of time and decay.  Incorporating found objects, particularly those discovered in urban environments, Laggarrigue bridges the divide between text and place. These objects are not merely symbolic but act as active participants in the narrative of the exhibition, marking the intersection of language, space, and time. Through this, the artist asks profound questions about the power of language, its materiality, and its potential for transformation.

The exhibition also features a live performance accompanied by piano music by Eero Schoch, where the act of writing transforms into an ephemeral, real time interaction with the audience, further deepening the thematic resonance of the work.

An integral part is collaboration with glass artist Michèle Janata, whose ethereal works have significantly influenced his recent practice.  Her work transcends the boundaries of materiality, exploring the interplay of light, space, and form. Her glass creations are characterized by their dynamic compositions, which invite viewers to reconsider their perceptions of reality.
